As you already know,
each of us get assigned
our own locker at the
beginning of each school year.
When it comes to which one you
get, the idea is that it’s appropriately
placed in a location that is
convenient to reach from all of
the classes that you have. However,
that’s not always the case. I
have personally found it a bit irritating
at times when I, at one
point, find myself having to go to
the other end of the school just to
get the one worksheet or flimsy
textbook I need for the next
class. Thankfully, I have found a
way to avoid this unnecessary
hassle, which is simply by not
using my locker.
Having attended a
school that gave you the option
of having a locker, I found it easier
to just take everything around
with me, despite knowing I had
the option to place it elsewhere.
And all of us know this in the
back of our minds, but the truth
is some of us are just too lazy to
pull that extra weight around,
which is why some of us go out
of convenience’s way to dump
some things in there.
On top of that, Minnetonka
lockers often aren’t even
the full size of a standard locker.
Knowing that mine barely has
room for my coat and handbag,
I’d be very surprised if all of
someone’s school supplies were
able to fit in there. That tiny
space at the top meant to be for
all of your books is only half the
size of the space you’ll find in
some people’s backpacks.
For those who are not
yet convinced, ask yourself this –
if lockers are that viable, then
why is it that some teachers that
allow you to keep items such as
text books and binders in their
classroom or recommend that
you keep them at home? It’s because
they know it will make
things easier for their students
when they
need to access
those things.
In other
words, it’s
because
they
know
that
lockers
aren’t
convenient.
Finally, if
students were
to place precious
items in their
lockers, it could cause a
serious theft problem. A problem
where the chances would be
highly minimized if the students
instead carried those things
around with them.
At the end of the day,
lockers are a nice luxury to have,
but one that is not really necesary
when students have other, more
feasible options.
