Health tip of the month: Fit in the fun
This month’s health tip comes from Mrs. Hoehne, a physics teacher at MHS. To stay healthy, Mrs. Hoehne recommends finding something you are passionate about and doing it regularly. She says that we often get so wrapped up in our schoolwork or job that we choose to let life happen to us more than we choose to live life.
Mrs. Hoehne speaks from personal experience. Doing things she enjoys makes her feel more energized and less stressed. Sometimes, she doesn’t always have the time to eat mindfully or get enough sleep, but playing a game of basketball or spending time with family makes her feel much healthier. Mrs. Hoehne is incredibly busy with teaching, coaching, and family, but because she loves to do all three, her life is less stressful.
Sometimes we don’t realize how caught up we are in school. There is only so much time in a day, and a lot it is used for school, schoolwork, and school activities, for both students and teachers. After a long day, sometimes the best thing for us is to do something we love. Mrs. Hoehne says that some nights, even when she’s tired, she drags herself to a game of pick-up basketball and never regrets it.
Even though school is a big part of our lives, we also need to make time for ourselves. Like Mrs. Hoehne says, pick something you love to do, stick with it, and enjoy it!
