To make a candy rose to add to any cupcake:
1. Buy a bag of red “cherry fruit slice” candy.
2. On a clean surface, spread out a handful of sugar.
3. Place a candy on top of the sugar and flatten with a rolling pin. Keep flipping
the candy over in the sugar so the sugar coats both sides and the candy does
not get sticky.
4. With scissors or a knife, cut the flattened candy into long strips that are about
the width of your thumb.
5. Pinch along one side of the strip to make it appear more flat.
6. Wrap the flattened candy around itself, starting out very tight and gradually
becoming looser.
7. Press the rose into a frosted cupcake and add extra petals (strips of candy)
around it, filling in holes with extra scraps of the flattened candy.
8. For leaves, cut apart
