Backpacks
This year backpacks are very popular in the halls of Minnetonka. Backpacks are the most functional option for a school bag, and are best for carrying around heavy books. You can choose to either take the durable and functional route and go for a typical backpack from Jansport, Under Armour, or the North Face. Or if you’re looking to stand out in a sea of JanSport, go for a different backpack with a unique pattern. You can find fun backpacks from Vera Bradley, Urban Outfitters, Target, ModCloth and ASOS.
Tote Bags
Tote bags gained popularity a few years ago, and have remained a top bag choice. They are stylish and often pretty roomy, but there are a few disadvantages to the tote bag. They often are not very durable and cannot handle carrying heavy books through the halls. They also often can cause shoulder or back pain from carrying the bag all day. Totes are still a great choice though, and many can be found at stores like Topshop, J. Crew, Forever 21, and Target.
Messenger Bags
Messenger bags are the perfect happy medium between the backpack and the tote bag. They are as stylish as a tote bag, but also can handle maore books and are typically very durable, like a backpack. The messenger bags have been popping up around the halls of Minnetonka lately and I am expecting the number of these bags to grow as the school year progresses, so why not be ahead of the times and get yours now? You can find these classy bags at many stores, such as Zara, Zappos, H&M, American Eagle Outfitters, and also many department stores.
And for the boys….
And guys…don’t think I forgot about you. Backpacks have always been a popular choice among the guys at MHS but this year, a popular choice for a bag amongst the guys are the drawstring backpacks. Although these bags don’t carry much, they seem to be quickly gaining popularity. You can buy these bags at most athletic stores such as Nike, Sports Authority, and Dicks. Also, don’t forget about another up and comer, the Murse (man purse). Although I have yet to see one of these in the hallways of MHS, but believe me, the Murse will be big one day.
