Every Thursday after school, one of the Port conference rooms becomes a magical place. Harry Potter Club, which is now in its fourth year, is what makes this place so enchanting.
Resident Slytherin Eli Krauska, ‘19, describes Harry Potter club as “a place for for Harry Potter fans to come together, have fun and make lots of connections.”
According to club leader Izzy Smith, ‘18, one activity they did was a scavenger hunt around MHS “where members had to find places around the school that had been assigned to analogous places in the wizarding world.”
The other club leader, Holly Hazelton, ‘18, also mentions that “anyone is welcome to join” and that students do not have to have read the books or seen the movies to join the club.
When asked if she would like to say anything to prospective members, Hazelton says, “Definitely come to one of our meetings to check it out, or email me if you are wondering if you’d fit in to our group. I’m happy to answer any questions about the club. We have all grades, and we are an extremely diverse group that anyone would fit into.”
Harry Potter club is also trying to start a Minnetonka regional quidditch team, but they need more people to join. So if you are into sports and have ever wondered what it would be like to play quidditch, then Harry Potter club is the place for you. Do not be afraid to join, because all the members are very welcoming and soon enough the club will feel like your second family.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact Holly Hazelton at [email protected]. Information about the club can also be found on posters throughout the school.
