Can I get cream with that coffeehouse?
If you’ve heard the announcements for Coffeehouse at school and thought to yourself “Why are these hipsters selling coffee?” then you need to read this article. Despite its name, Coffeehouse isn’t about the coffee, but the music you would hear in a coffeehouse (get it now?). This Coffeehouse coming up is the first of the year and will have two stages: an electric and an acoustic stage. Songs by everyone from Rage Against the Machine, Poison, Miley Cyrus, and John Mayer can show up on either stage as bands made up of Minnetonka students cover them. After this Coffeehouse event there are only two more this year, one in the winter which is only acoustic, and one in the spring that focuses more on the electric acts. If you’re looking to expand your band’s listening audience outside of angry neighbors, be sure to audition for this Coffeehouse! Auditions are this Wednesday and Friday, October 1st and 3rd in the multipurpose music room in the Arts Center. If your band is chosen to play you can join the ranks of such prestigious bands to play at previous coffee houses like John Mark Nelson, The Green Beans, Clay Borrell, and the Will Schmid Trio. Not so musically inclined? Tickets are cheap and the music goes all night! You can stay till midnight or just come to see your favorite bands. Either way, Coffee house is a Minnetonka tradition you have experience at least once before you graduate.
