“Star Wars: the Force Awakens”
December 18, 2015
The new Star Wars movie is a must-see! Tying in references (maybe even a return of the Millenium Falcon) from the first six episodes, JJ Abrams masterfully directs the return battle between Dark side and the Light side. The Resistance hunts for Luke Skywalker in the midst of a counterattack from the First Order with the help of returning characters Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Chewbacca. Lucasfilm impresses yet again with a intense and emotional travel through the galaxy.
Although the movie – the first of the Star Wars sequel trilogy – is especially thrilling for those who have seen the first six episodes, it is clear in plotline and character development allowing even fresh eyes to come and be impressed.
The film features original actors Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher whose roles are as significant and as well played as in previous episodes. To have the original characters return for this seventh film gave the story authenticity as well as an emotional connection for those who have seen the original saga. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and John Boyega are also prominent characters, and as newbies, they had a strong legacy to live up to. Their performances all fit seamlessly in with the performances of the returning characters, and their on-screen chemistry drew the audience in effortlessly.
All in all, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is a phenomenal movie for Star Wars fans and non-fans alike. Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence, the movie especially caters to the adolescent and adult population. With action, drama, humor, and taxing emotions, this movie without a doubt lives up to the rest of the Star Wars saga.
